Brackets to Beat Blindness

March 11th, 2010 | by Eric Thompson |

If you’re like me, you really love this time of year. Sure, the weather is getting warmer and we’re inching closer to the draft next month, which is nice. But let’s be honest–March is for good for one thing and one thing only.

BRACKETS!

Yes, it’s that wonderful time of year when 90% of America pretends they’re Jay Bilas and fills out brackets that are sure to go horribly wrong by the end of the first weekend.

“But Eric,” you ask, “this is a football blog. What the heck are you doing talking about college basketball?” Usually I won’t have an excuse for going way off-topic here, but today I have a great reason.

When it comes to March Madness, most of us throw down $10 or more on our brackets that we slaved over for hours only to see Jane from Accounting win the office pool because “the Villanova coach looks like George Clooney so I picked them to win.” Even though you’re lucky if the pool money reaches three digits, the chances of you seeing a dime of that cash seem to be on par with winning Powerball.

So this year, instead of throwing your money away in vain, why not put your bracket money towards a great cause with the chance to win some real money? Well now you can, and here’s how:

Fanball is running their second annual Brackets to Beat Blindness contest, with all proceeds going to Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. You get one bracket for a $9.95 donation and three brackets for a $25 donation. And the prizes–pretty outstanding. Check ‘em out for yourself.

So sign up today and stick it to Jane from Accounting once and for all!
